Benjamin Alves

Benjamin Alves has been actively working as a sculptor since 1998, always preferring to make forged editions in bronze. Research and development experience as well as construction techniques from his other engineering activities flow bi-directionally and shape the creative process of his art. His original works are modeled both classically and plastically, while being created in virtual computer prototypes and refined in digital studios until they are three-dimensionally printed in rapid prototypes and then cast for bronze casting or directly removed in lost form. As a student, Benjamin Alves was active on the graffiti scene in Dortmund and Hannover, and elements of graffiti and street art can still be found in his works to this day. Benjamin Alves critically examines social and political conditions, so his style between post-graffiti and artivism can best be classified as morbid cartoonism.
